NELSON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1954

Arnold SHERWOOD

I’m on your list because we were all in the same class until grade nine and I failed so I didn’t grad until ’55.  I have a lot of stories about the old school: Jake Loomer, Jerry Lee, Mattice (my favorite), John Norris, Toma Naka (still in Nelson), Jorgie (died in 2001), Don MacKinnon (our basketball coach), Ernie Nacaratto, Fudd and the list goes on.  I don’t know how the hell I ever got through school but I ended up with a great career.  In 1959 I started in the Government Agent’s office in Nelson as a clerk in the MV office and was Government Agent in Fernie, Kitimat and Rossland.  After retiring, spent 13 years in the coroner service.  Sure wish I had paid a little more attention to my studies ... who knows, I may have ended up teaching!!!  I am now fully retired and loving it. (5 grandchildren too and they all love their grandpa, not to mention their grandma of course).

I’ll drop over and see all you guys.  It should be a hoot.
