	Some Favorite Memories:

The most vivid memory for me was the complete sense of security.  I still get glimpses of that feeling each time I return to Nelson.

	Hume School:

Shuffling through the leaves on my four-block walk along Third Street to school, realizing I knew everyone in the homes on my route

	Junior High:

Meeting all the other students from the area; Getting the streetcar to school and being thrilled when it couldn’t make it up the hill in winter, making us late for class

Joining the Bugle-Band and confirming that I am musically challenged; the romantic wedding of two of our teachers

	High School:

Facing the fact that we had all fallen into divisions – popular, studious, athletic, in-betweens and out!; Track meets; Walking over to the Junior High for Home Economics; Heading over to Mr. Naka’s class for senior matric

	General Memories:

Swimming in the lake; Sleigh riding down Elwyn and stopping just short of the streetcar tracks; Crossing over the train trestle in Fairview; Saturday afternoon movies; Hiking up to Pulpit Rock; Biking out to Taghum and needing a ride home; Going to Camp Koolaree; Listening to the train whistle at night; Great birthday parties at Alyse Mathisen’s and Marion (Rolph) Taylaur’s houses; Skating at the Civic Centre and sometimes on the lake; Playing scrub ball, kick the can, hide and seek with the other kids in Fairview

All in all, great childhood memories of Nelson, with lots of freedom to do as I pleased, and making many life long friends.
