Marilyn (WATERER) Linton

Family:

I have 4 children (Janice, Julie, Greg & Cindy) – all married and amongst them, have produced four granddaughters and six grandsons for me.  An awesome group!  They’re located in Victoria, Kelowna, Terrace and Winnipeg, providing me with several destinations.

Present Activities:

Activities for the past year have revolved around selling my home and downsizing – a large task I soon discovered.  I found a smaller house and lot but as I write, am still awaiting painters, decorators, etc.  Hopefully, I’ll be settled by the time you read this??!  Leisure time is full with family visits, walking, attempts at fitness, quilting, reading and gardening.

Work Before Retirement:

Work days included a short stint as an R.N.  Sixteen years as a stay-at-home Mom, followed by 13 years in Payroll & Personnel at the Vancouver Public Aquarium.

Some Favourite Memories:

  • Did anyone attend Mrs. Lambert’s kindergarten in Fairview?
  • Riding the street car to Lakeside Park.
  • First day at Central School with Miss MacKenzie, and all the alphabet letters we dotted in different colours.
  • Lining up on the stairways for Monday morning assembly
  • Mrs. Kettlewell conducting our various choral endeavours.
  • “The Dynamiters” softball team. Sylvia our star pitcher!
  • Fall Fair – floor show and midway.
  • Saturday afternoon matinees, and later Friday evening shows at the Civic.
  • Music lessons with Mrs. McPhail.
  • Track meets and parades to the Ball Grounds.
  • Decorating for school dances.
  • All involvement with sports and teams from both Junior High and High School.
